Zahntechnique’s Exciting Move to Miami Lakes
I hope this comes as no surprise – Zahntechnique moved to the beautiful town of Miami Lakes in March of this year. This move marked a significant milestone for the company on multiple levels. Most importantly, we now own the space in which we operate our business. For those of you who are owner/operators, I’m sure you can appreciate the pride that comes with this achievement.
Alex and I had the opportunity to purchase Zahntechnique in 2014. If you worked with Zahntechnique before or during that time, you might remember our small facility in Pinecrest. Back then, the small to medium-sized dental laboratory sector was just beginning to embrace advanced manufacturing technologies, such as computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM). As our equipment grew in size and capabilities, the need for a larger space became more evident. That’s when we began our search for a new location to rent and eventually found Kendall.
The Kendall location served us well, which is why we stayed there for 10 years. However, like many of you have likely experienced in your own areas, rental costs increased substantially after 2020. This was particularly true for the industrial commercial real estate market in South Florida. Fun Fact: In many municipalities, dental laboratories are required to operate in industrial-zoned locations. These zoning requirements made it especially challenging to find new spaces that met our needs.
One of the biggest requests from our Team Members was to have more windows and to be in a more central location. The industrial space in Kendall had no windows in the production area, so our team members wouldn’t see daylight until they clocked out at the end of the day. With this in mind, our goal was to find a space with plenty of natural light. After years of searching, we finally found our ideal location in Miami Lakes.
